Be-Great University College of Homeland Security and Defence (previously named Be-Great Security and Intelligence Academy) was established in 2010, founded its study affiliates in the United Kingdom, China, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Ghana, Nigeria, Jordan, Egypt, United States of America, etc. Be-Great University College of Homeland Security and Defence (BUC) is registered with Ministry of the Interior, Department of Justice Ministry (Registrar General’s Department) and Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (Ghana Government Accreditation Council).

Dr. Ernest Gyimah, making a series of consultations with government security and intelligence agents, Defence experts operating within European and other internationally accredited universities founded this envisaged higher learning institution. As it’s usually the case for famous universities like Cambridge, Oxford, Havard, etc. BUC started with nine students where six were from government security agencies and anytime these officers were called for duty the class always remains three people who are unfortunately known family members to the founder. The beginning and developmental processes of BUC is often hard to to think of. By 2013, Be-Great Academy had become best among the elite international law enforcement training institution, working with government accredited universities and colleges to offer a varieties of security and intelligence courses. At the beginning of 2014, The Academy completed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UK government accredited university college, before signing another vitally important collaborative academic partnership with accredited Security training institute in Britain. BUC is exclusively working with over seven independent officially approved training institutions in over five countries including United State of America. The BUC Advisory Board resolved in the late 2014 that, the Academy be metamorphosed to higher learning institution in Ghana. With the efforts of the management, and approval by the Department of Justice Ministry, and the government Accreditation Council the name was successfully changed and the first ever private security and defence university became established in the soil of Republic of Ghana. November 2015, saw the colourful and exuberance product of all the strives; the Be-Great University College of Homeland Security and Defence was officially launched in Accra, Ghana in the presence of government officials, Royal King, religious leaders, institutional heads, community chiefs, diplomats, etc.

BUC is set apart through its commitment to providing students with opportunities to acquire, understand and apply interdisciplinary knowledge in the study areas like Security, Intelligence, Diplomacy, Policing, Criminal Investigations, Investigative Journalism, Military Science, Crime Scene Investigation, Crime Prevention, Forensic Science, etc. At BUC, students are taught by highly experienced faculty drawn from established government organisations; the Police, Military, and other funded departments, e.g. the Forensic Office, Security and Intelligence Department, etc.
